Did you know?

Sometimes I think I am so smart and think outside the box!!LOL  Usually when I think of these bright ideas, I come to find out it wasn't so original.  I almost didn't post this because I thought everyone knows this.  In case you are a semi newbie like me this just might help.   OK....onto the post.

When I saw the card that Dawn McVey had made for Mothers Day, I really did gasp outloud.  It was my mother from top to bottom, so whats a girl to do except CASE it??

Well......here comes the bright idea.  I didn't have any purple rhinestones to use and since our weather has been horrendous(snow, snow and more snow) I haven't been able to stop at my Local Scrapbook Store.  I know many have used their Copic markers to color rhinestones, but since I am new to all of this I haven't ventured down that path yet.  Soooo much other basics I want to get first.  I made this card and thought I would just wait till better weather to get my rhinestones, but oh no.  Once I had it this far I couldn't wait so therefore here comes this idea.  Have you ever used your ink pads to "color" your rhinestones.  Works like a charm.  I cut my rhinestones from the clear acrylic trying to leave a bit of the acrylic to hold onto.

Next I just turned them upside down on the inkpad, and pressed them into the ink with my bone folder.

Waalaa........purple rhinestones, check out my card at the beginning of this post.

  1. Great idea. I would never have thought of using my ink pad! I relate to your reaction to Dawn's card. Except mine was to Nichole's yellow button bits card. Same thing, it was completely my mom even though it didn't say "happy mother's day". I know you mom will love receiving this!

  2. This is so gorgeous - I love the colors (and your purple rhinestones)! Don't you love it when you can "make-do" with something you have at home. And it really turned out so great!!

  3. Mary, this is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and now I may just have to CASE it from you who CASEd it from Dawn! LOL! You didn't mention the stamp sets you used. I know you used Turning a New Leaf, but is that sentiment also part of that set? (I can't recall off-memory). I love the colors! :) Just beautiful!
